Job description
Retail Operations Advisor – Retail Key Accounts
Do you combine strong commercial acumen with a passion for customer experience, operational excellence and developing people?
We are looking for an exceptional Retail Operations Advisor to join our Retail Key Accounts team, with dedicated responsibility for our MAXOL account.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving the performance of a high-profile retail network. Working closely with MAXOL retailers and our wider commercial and support teams, you will provide expert advice, challenge performance, identify opportunities and help stores realise their full potential.
You will be much more than an advisor. You will be a trusted commercial partner to our customers, helping them make better decisions, improve standards, optimise margins and ultimately grow their businesses.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Sales for Retail Key Accounts, you will have a direct influence on business performance across your designated area.
You will build strong relationships with MAXOL retailers, understand the individual opportunities within their businesses and translate commercial strategy into practical, measurable action at store level.
From improving store standards and margin performance to supporting new store openings, refits and business improvement initiatives, you will be at the heart of delivering excellence across the account.
This is a role for someone who enjoys being close to the customer, understands retail from the ground up and has the commercial confidence to identify opportunities and turn them into results.
Key Responsibilities
Own and develop the MAXOL relationship across your designated area, building trusted and commercially focused relationships with retailers.
Drive business performance, ensuring optimum execution of our commercial strategy and maximising opportunities across the customer network.
Grow customer loyalty and share of business, ensuring customers purchase the products and services committed to under trading and supply agreements.
Act as a trusted retail advisor, providing practical best-practice guidance on store operations, customer experience, merchandising and margin optimisation.
Use commercial insight to identify opportunities, helping retailers understand their performance and take action to improve profitability.
Champion exceptional standards, advising customers on food hygiene, operational compliance and the procedures required to maintain consistently high standards.
Lead store audits and improvement activity, using excellence audit results to identify underperformance, agree corrective actions and follow through to delivery.
Collaborate across the wider organisation, working closely with Fresh Food, Alcohol and other specialist advisors to deliver a consistent and compelling proposition at store level.
Drive compliance with company policies, procedures and agreed standards while maintaining strong and constructive customer relationships.
Support major projects and business initiatives, including new store openings, store refits and other strategic or operational projects.
Share insight from the field, bringing customer and market intelligence back into the wider business to help shape future commercial opportunities.
Deliver against clear objectives and deadlines, taking ownership for results and ensuring agreed actions translate into measurable improvements.
The successful candidate will have the ability to operate comfortably at both a strategic and operational level. You may currently be working in retail operations, retail management, area management, convenience retail, FMCG or a related customer-facing commercial environment. Most importantly, you will understand how successful stores operate and what drives both customer and financial performance.
Job requirements
The successful candidate will bring:
Significant experience in a customer-focused, standards-driven food retail environment.
A strong understanding of retail economics, margins and profitability, with the ability to translate commercial information into practical actions.
A proven track record of delivering results and improving business performance.
Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to identify opportunities, challenge constructively and influence customer decisions.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility and trust quickly.
The ability to think strategically while remaining highly practical and operationally focused.
Strong numerical, analytical and IT skills.
Excellent organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across a wider support and commercial team.
A genuine passion for retail, customer success and continuous improvement.
Evidence of ambition and a commitment to personal and professional development.
Education to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent, with relevant experience and capability equally valued.
The successful candidate will be commercially curious, energetic and comfortable working independently. You will enjoy being out in the field, engaging with retailers and seeing the impact of your advice translate into better standards and stronger business performance.
You will be confident enough to challenge when necessary, but pragmatic enough to understand the realities of running a retail business.
You will build relationships based on credibility rather than simply being a supplier or service provider. Retailers will value your judgement, trust your advice and see you as someone who genuinely understands their business.
Above all, you will be results-driven, customer-focused and passionate about excellence.
This is an opportunity to join a high-performing team and take on a role with genuine visibility and influence.
You will have the opportunity to:
Work with a high-profile national retail account.
Influence the performance of multiple retail businesses across Ireland.
Build strong relationships with retailers and senior stakeholders.
Work alongside experienced commercial and specialist teams.
Gain exposure to major retail projects, new store development and refits.
Develop your commercial, operational and leadership capability.
Make a visible and measurable difference to customer and business performance.
If you are an ambitious retail professional who wants to take your career to the next level, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.
