Marketing Executive SPAR Ireland – Permanent Full Time

An exciting opportunity exists for a Marketing Executive in the SPAR Marketing team with BWG Foods on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the SPAR Marketing Manager; the Marketing Executive will have responsibility for implementing specific areas as outlined in the annual SPAR marketing plan in a manner that contributes to the growth and development of the brand. The hybrid role requires 3 days per week in BWG’s Head Office in Tallaght, Dublin 24, with 2 days working from home.


Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Co-ordination of data for the promotional marketing process to facilitate production of advertising materials.
  • Responsibility for artwork approval, print and delivery, managing print timelines and updating contact lists.
  • Management of social media to support promotional campaigns on SPAR Ireland and local retailer pages.
  • Dealing with customer queries in a pro-active and efficient manner and within GDPR guidelines.
  • Managing the online retailer marketing Toolkit including responsibility for promotional digital content upload.
  • Contributing to marketing strategy through identification of key sales and social media opportunities.
  • Management of social media scheduling tool and social media monitoring across relevant platforms.
  • Competition administration through website and social media platforms including updating of spar.ie.
  • Act as SPAR.ie content management system super-user, ensuring the SPAR website is regularly updated.
  • Design, manage and implement quality local marketing campaigns and events for retailers and new stores.
  • Dealing with ad hoc requests to supply customers with marketing materials.
  • Support the growth, development and administration of the My SPAR Rewards Club Programme.
  • Event, sponsorship and PR support activity including project management of key sponsorship events.
  • Provide administration support to the department director as required.
  • Maintaining files, customer lists and budget sheets as required.
  • Collaborate with other team members on trade marketing projects and communications as required.
  • Preparation of reports and presentations with emphasis on communicating to the SPAR sales team.
  • Administration of relevant finance and budgetary requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned in line with operational needs.

Job requirements

The successful candidate should:

  • Be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable with data sheets.
  • Be a highly motivated and proactive individual.
  • Have the ability to multitask and meet deadlines as well as ability to plan and organise work effectively.
  • Have previous experience in a similar role ideally within the FMCG industry (advantageous).
  • Have excellent attention to detail, accuracy and be able to work well under pressure.
  • Be patient and empathetic to customers with complaints.
  • Possess strong organisation skills and attention to detail.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Embrace all aspects of the BWG Compass (Vision, Mission and Values).
  • Have own car and full clean driving license (essential).

The most suitable candidate for this role will be a detail-orientated, self-motivated individual with the ability and experience to take ownership of required tasks, and deliver these to conclusion, using one’s own initiative. In addition, the applicant should be experienced in working independently, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with ability to multi-task in an organised and proactive manner. The successful applicant will be encouraged to contribute to strategic thinking in growing the SPAR brand to benefit the large network of independent SPAR retailers.
