BWG Communications Manager
BWG is inviting applications to the role of Communications Manager to join our award-winning team, reporting to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.
Aligned with the BWG Compass (Vision, Purpose, and Values), the purpose of this position is to grow and protect the reputation of BWG and our Brands.
The BWG Communications Manager will be responsible for developing communications on owned and earned media for BWG so that our business strategy, our market leading Brands (SPAR, EUROSPAR, MACE, LONDIS, XL, BWG Foodservice, Value Centre, William’s Gate and LSN) and ESG programme are understood and valued by stakeholders. Communications should showcase and demonstrate the scale and leadership of BWG across Retail, Wholesale and Foodservice sectors.
The role includes responsibility for:
In conjunction with our Corporate Communications agency partner, develop external Corporate Communications plans for BWG and our Brands on strategic areas including economic impact, sustainability, and the role of BWG, our Brands and Retailers in supporting vibrant communities.
Promote, protect and build awareness of BWG and our Brand priorities to ensure they are understood and valued by external stakeholders.
Manage day-to-day relationship with our corporate communications agency.
Working alongside our Brand marketing teams, develop pro-active Communications plans to gain exposure in media for community and Brand programmes, including high profile sponsorships and charity partnerships.
Support Retailer and Customer events to generate positive exposure for our Brands and customers.
Proactive Campaigns – develop communications campaigns that build our reputation and give BWG standout and distinctiveness.
Seek out opportunities that build BWG and our Brands’ leadership position.
Promote and highlight key business achievements, people, and awards.
Work with Retailers on planned media profiles and media enquiries, ensuring communication protocols are managed.
Manage engagement with communications teams linked to Brand activations, including sponsorships and charities.
Work with cross functional teams in BWG to align on BWG’s position, define and manage response approach to help mitigate issues efficiently and effectively.
Track, manage and report.
Working alongside our agency partner, manage key media contacts in Ireland including local, national and international media.
Manage day-to-day media queries.
Build and execute social media strategy for BWG Foods.
Manage social media interactions between BWG Brands and the public as required, working alongside Brand teams.
Analyse and advise on new opportunities to increase BWG’s social media presence.
Analyse engagement data, identifying trends in interactions and planning digital campaigns to build community online.
Digitalise the role where possible.
Manage content and production of BWG Retailer Magazines/eZines.
Manage the BWG Website.
Job requirements
The successful candidate will possess the following:5 years’+ experience in a communications/PR role.
Significant experience in a communications / PR role.
A third level qualification in either Public Relations, Marketing or relevant experience
Strong influencing, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
Experience in managing social media platforms.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven track record in managing projects to a successful conclusion.
Strong presentation and organisation skills.
Track record of achieving results and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work well as part of team.
Adaptable and flexible with the ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
