BWG - Gala Business Development Manager (Permanent, Full-Time)

Applications are invited for the position of BWG Gala Business Development Manager (eastern region).  The main objective of this role is to develop and optimise Gala Retailers’ various operations and therefore enhance our wholesale partnership.

Reporting to the BWG Head of Gala Retail, the role of the Business Development Manager is integral to optimising business potential by providing advice to our customers on all areas of store operations. This in turn has a positive impact on our customers’ performance and contributes to overall brand growth.  

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Project Management of store developments, including new stores and upgrades and to support the development of in-store Gala retail concepts in existing stores.

  • Advising retailers on their financial planning. Building sales and P&L projections.

  • Supporting customer sales growth by communicating local and national retail trends.

  • Ensuring optimum performance of the Company’s business activities in a designated sales area.

  • Developing effective business relationships with customers in the area.

  • Providing customers with best practice advice, store operation advice, margin optimisation and assistance in their businesses.

  • To identify and expand new business opportunities in the area.

  • Achieving agreed sales targets in the area.

  • Maximising retailer loyalty in the region.

Job requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have relevant retail experience in a customer-focused, standards-driven food retail organisation.

  • Have an excellent understanding of margins and appreciate the importance of effective margin management in store operations.

  • Be ambitious, with demonstrable career progression to date.

  • Have the ability to adhere to tight deadlines and will be motivated to achieve results.

  • Be educated to leaving certificate standard, at a minimum, ideally with a relevant third level business qualification.

  • Have the ability to think strategically as well as operationally.

  • Have strong numerical and IT skills (EPOS experience an advantage).

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to work as part of a team.
