Assistant Accountant – Temporary Full Time

 

Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Accountant on a Temporary Full Time basis. The Assistant Accountant will report directly to the Finance Director.

 

Key responsibilities for this role are as follows:

  • Responsible for setting up bank payments - weekly

  • Responsible for setting up bank beneficiaries and verifications – ad hoc

  • Responsible for setting up / amending / cancelling of standing orders and internal process for approval - ad hoc

  • Responsible for reconciliation of multiple bank accounts and intercompany transactions (part manual coding, part automated by journals)

  • Responsible for coding, capture and review of purchase invoices, including liaising with relevant budget holders and including e-signature document chain.

  • Responsible for onward charging invoices and control reconciliations for property related charges (rental income, insurance & service charges)

  • Responsible for processing RCC invoices to intergroup for retail contributions

  • Responsible for journal preparation & posting, including accruals and prepayments

  • Responsible for reconciliation of sundry debtors, sundry creditors, and trade creditors accounts

  • Assisting with monthly balance sheet analysis

  • Assistant with general office administration

  • Assisting with other ad hoc requirements as they arise.

Job requirements

The ideal candidate will possess some of the following skills:

  • Working towards an accounting qualification

  • Previous experience within general accounts office

  • Excellent debtors and creditors reconciliation experience

  • Excellent bank reconciliation experience

  • Strong XL experience (i.e. vlookup, formatting etc)

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and organisation skills and a proven ability to quickly pick up new concepts

  • Ability to work accurately with a strong attention to detail

  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and multitasking abilities

  • Ability to work to strict monthly deadlines and adaptable to change

  • Ability to work as a team as well as on own initiative
